Entire magazine

A magazine. Something you can touch, take into your hands, briefly browse or read deeply, put away for later and come back to, again and again, each time with a different view.

For a client/publisher, Entire magazine was a substance with a strictly given structure, but on the other hand, with an ability to develop itself according to their current needs. Printed mag was a means how to bring and transform an abstract theme into the tangible world. And also a way how to present particular people who stand behind Centire's work. This way we created a rapport between them and the reader.

As the Editor, I was in charge of the magazine's written content, everything from topic selection and structure consultations to editing and proofreading. Part of my work entailed writing articles from scratch, partly from provided material and partly by interviewing the employees.

How to describe counselling in a more human manner? What could present figures with briefcases in a more familiar way, through the language spoken by lay people?

Night of the theatres

In 2011, the creative idea of the whole communication was based on a simple but catchy copy – „Na hry máme celú noc“ – „We've got a whole night for games/plays.“
The twist is based on a teasing play on words - in Slovak, the word „hry“ refers not only to „games“ but to „plays“ as well.

Therefore the message of the poster had two meanings – one informative about the fact that theatres are open for the whole night, and the second... well, I don't think it needs any further explanation :-)

In 2012, the creative concept was to imply the variety of the event. The idea was carried by the headline „Táto noc bude...“ – „This night is going to be...“ followed by a list of words describing what the night could feel like. For example: crazy, dramatic, exposed, loaded. The last line of the copy was empty so readers could use their imagination and creativity to add their own expressions. Either simply by thinking about it in their mind or physically with a marker right on the poster.

Mamazonka

Although private shopping clubs for mums have their history in other countries, they are only now getting slowly set up in Slovakia. During the establishing of the first one, I was involved from the very beginning as a marketer with a wide range of responsibilities.

Mamazonka Starting with setting the brand strategy in accordance with expectations of CEOs and naming the website itself.
Besides creating the content, I was responsible for guiding the tone of voice of all written content on the website, within social media communication and promotional materials, so they were all reflecting Mamazonka's mission.

Some could say the name Mamazonka sounds to be influenced by Amazon. In fact, the original idea was to name the shopping club as Zone Mama. But once I decided to reverse word order, I came upon an entirely new name standing behind a new concept with a bigger potential for branding. Also this name was very easy to remember and invoked plenty of positive connotation among the public. By the way, reversing still belongs to my favourite copywriting techniques :)

Pohoda festival

The festival has its stabile fanbase in Slovakia and abroad. However, their communication on social sites wasn't ideal. The staff behind the festival organisation, who was in charge of this communication, didn't know how to use its potential effectively. Pohoda Shop
The number of fans and followers was stagnating or, even worse, declining. My role was to coach them how to work with social media and how to use opportunities which these sites offer. The team was coached what are the specifics of communication on Twitter and Facebook, what content is appropriate on which channels, how to engage fans continuously, how to communicate with them and how to track their social media performance. Besides this I was also responsible for setting up and administrating PPC campaigns on Facebook.

As a copywriter I was also creating special sale banners for festival's e-shop - Pohodashop which sells festival-themed merchandise.

Writing

Call it a gift, a passion, a work which has to be done… For me, it's a life function just like eating and breathing. And to be paid just for keeping myself alive? It may sound cool, but imagine what amount of paper had to be written, how many trees had to fall down for one girl's life! It can be a pretty painful life function. And you think about going to back this?? Ok, I promise: if you'll hire me, I'll buy a tablet and stop using notepads to store my ideas.

English

Do you know that feeling when you had a few sips of a drink and you feel like unchained? You feel free enough to do whatever you want but you're still pretty aware of yourself and not too wild to crash the party. That's how I feel when I'm writing in English. My native language is pretty strict in terms of grammar. Slovak helps me to be aware of the rules, English gives me a freedom to write more creatively. Thanks to this combination my writing is finely balanced.

Travelling

Have ideas, will travel. Gladly even overseas to enjoy it and do my best. But if you're not an international company or you don't intend to do business farther than Zone 9, I'm fine with that either. Observing people in the Tube can be still quite interesting too. Also, some of my favourite creative ideas I'd come with in the past were created while sitting on a bus.

Connection

Do you know how an apple is connected to the radiator? Neither do I. But if you would like to find out, give me ten minutes and I'll come up with some good explanations for you. To search for connections is what the copywriting is all about. The good thing is that everything around is connected somehow. You just need to figure out how. And if you can use this knowledge to let consumers connect with your brand, you're over the hump.

Learning

It began with eating. Then continued with walking. Reading and writing were extremely hard not to get addicted to. Then came kissing. Every new thing I have learnt in the past, I found myself obsessed with it. I wonder how it will end up... The most recent thing I found myself to be obsessed with was learning.

Humour

I love the way how a witty copy/advertisement/campaign can be pushed forward to a new position by using a bit of amusement in it. Humour helps people to become more open, to cope better with uncomfortable situations and evokes emotions. Sex may sell, but humour creates and maintains relationships between a product and its consumer. This leads to long time interaction possibilities.
Or to selling your product.

Love

I truly love Love. It's much easier to get immersed in work when you love what you do. Also love stirs better creative ideas. Colourful, more likeable and sometimes even visionary. And finally, love is simply sweet and nice to live with.

London

Tastes, sights, advertising, fashion, street art, Tube performers, a drizzle trickling down my clothes, thrilling events, people from various culture backgrounds…
I love it all. London's variety (in everything!) keeps me inspired and craving to see/hear/taste/experience more of it. Makes me want to write something.
To read. Attend. Participate. To create a killer copy.

Simplicity

Who wouldn't enjoy to write tons of pages about himself? And who would enjoy to read it all? Yeah, right. So I want to keep it simple. Same as I do with my copy. So the reader doesn't waste his time reading and can rather take some action.
That's why the simplicity.

My future job

Firstly, to work in London is a part of fulfilling my dream. Apart from that, I find something enjoyable in everything I do. Maybe I just hate an idea of doing something I don't like. But if there wasn't any job in advertising industry, I would be fine either way. I would be baking cakes happily ever after. Or telling people which book is worthy to read. You name it, I'll tell you what I'll love about it.

Well, that above is true, but if it sounds a bit too pushing, scratch that.
The tenth thing I love to do is to make lists.

I like the way we move!
